How to NOT Ruin Your Fitness Goals This Thanksgiving Week(end)

Here are some simple strategies that will help you enjoy your Thanksgiving while keeping your fitness goals in mind.

  1. Enjoy everything One day will not ruin your progress. Eat the dessert, drink the wine, have a second helping. It is not the holidays that ruin your progress, it’s all the days in between.
  2. EARN IT!!! The best way to mentally and physically enjoy all the delicious foods that the holiday brings is to get to the gym and work your a** off. Continuing with your current exercise routine will ensure you maintain any progress you have made! And let’s face it, the holidays can be stressful for some of us. Giving yourself an hour to workout and focus on yourself can help reduce some stress. I mean, a workout always feels great.
  3. Walk it off – After you finish dinner, head outside for a 10 minute walk with the whole family. Walking after any meal is proven to help digestion and lower blood sugar levels. Fire up that metabolism and enjoy some bonding time with your family at the same time!
  4. Get right back on track – Don’t let one day turn into a full weekend of binging. This is where many people go wrong. Do not let yourself snowball into bad habits. The best way to avoid this is to have some healthy meals prepped and schedule a workout the next day.
